WC 5/7 drop ???s

since i sold my K20, i've got a decent ammount of cash to play with, and i'd like to start building my chassis. i've pretty much decided on a Western Chassis 5/7 drop kit. i've just got a few ???s about this kit. it says it uses 2.5" spindles, and 2.5" coils in the front. im going to be replacing all of the bushings/bumpstops in the suspension, will factory rubber type bumpstops be ok for the front? or will i need to look for something shorter?

also, for the rear, it says it uses a flip kit and shackles. what material are the bushings in the shackles, if they're standard rubber bushings, will my stock bushings fit in there? (i'll either be using Energry Suspension polyeurethane (sp?) or polygraphite bushings) i think it would be pretty pointless to spend the money on poly bushings, and have cheap rubber bushings in teh shackles. could there be any ill effects of this?

i found a place who sells the kit for 579.99 (Doetsch Tech shocks included) and free shipping, which seems like a pretty decent deal, although im still looking.

any help/comments are appreciated.

The shackles dont have bushings if I remember right, they just move your leaf down about 1 1/2 in. You will just use the stock ones or polyurethane replacements.

i don't know what material the shackle bushings are made out of. but who ever you buy it from should, so i would call and ask them. on the front bumpstops, they will be completeley bottumed out once you drop it. they will sit on the upper spring pockets. i just cut about 3/4 inch of mine to allow for some travel because i'm not aware of anyone who makes shorter ones, but there couls be somone out there. i wouldn't cut too much off of them because it will halep you keep from bottuming out, i wish i would have only cut them like 1/2 inch. i would just cut them a little at a time till its right:D

any problems aligning the frontend after the 2.5" coils?

no problems with the front end. the only posible problem would be if you needed several shims for the upper controlarms to correct the negative camber, the upper control arm bolts might be too short to allow the use of enough shims. if thats the case all you need to get is longer bolts that will allow more shims to fit:cool:

the shackles will come with bushings, mine did. i dont know what they are made of though honestly. you will notice a big difference when you rebuild that front end. its worth it. negative camber will be your only problem up front though.

also, you will have to cut a piece out of the bed support to fit the shackles so if you dont want to do that you might want to get hangers instead. they will do the same thing, but they are a little tougher to put on (still easy) and a little more expensive. why not just do blocks if you are already doing a flip?

I used to have their shackles and they feature polyurethane bushings. If you purchase a PST kit, it includes new bumpstops for the lower control arms. :)

i dont want to use blocks in the rear, because they can cause excessive axle wrap and reduce traction. the plan for the entire truck is for 400+hp/400+ftlb, so traction is a must. the hangers would work, but i'd really rather not cut the stock ones off as they're riveted to the frame. i dont feel bolts would be as strong.

where are you getting the kit + shocks for that price? i think i payed close to 700 for my kit and the shocks to gether so thats a good deal.
