New Bucket Seats
I have been thinking about putting the lo-back bucket seats in my 86 standard cab. I came across this on the web and wondered what you guys thought. At the bottom of the page they have an adapter bracket for our trucks. Check it out and tell me what you all think.

Re: New Bucket Seats
Those 'bucket' seats and console are probably actually mounted on a frame that bolts to the floor. The adaptor brackets probably just work with their frame. I wouldn't think they would work with any other buckets. If they were factory buckets they would have four mounting holes per bucket and the console would mount on it's own. The way that seat setup is more like a 40/20/40 bench seat the way it mounts being it only uses the factory four holes and that's all. All I'm saying is that I don't think those brackets will work with factory buckets. It should definitely work with their seats though. Also I like that seat has the fold down center seat and all very nice and a decent price also.

Re: New Bucket Seats
Yeah I like those too, thats a great alternative to factory buckets and you can get 3 people in the cab if you need too. I am gonna save that link maybe I will get a set for my build.

Re: New Bucket Seats
For some reason I don't like the look of those seats. Reminds me of a 60/40 bench seat...
I want low backs for my 86 truck too, and I'm thinking of getting a pair of buckets out of a similar year model Blazer or some SCAT (ProCar) low backs: http://www.procarbyscat.com/Products_Lowback.asp |
Re: New Bucket Seats
Those Scat seats are pretty sharp. They look very similar to the factory lowback buckets, AND they have adjustable backs...hmmmm...;)

I used the Scat low backs in my '65. Good quality product IMHO.

Re: New Bucket Seats
The only thing I see that's kind of a turn off is how the seat back "cover" comes so far forward.

Re: New Bucket Seats
Off the subject, but if I was doing my seats over again, I would buy seats from a new style Silverado/Sierra (2000 up) with the integral armrest, 60/40. A local junkyard recently had a set for $250 - could use reupholstery, but foam was good. You can always fabricate adapters to match your mounting holes - not that hard, and they have integral seat belts and shoulder harnesses attached to the seats. Another option would be seats from a Chrysler Sebring convertible from about 97 up - they have integral seat belts also and are super comfy. Check it out.

Re: New Bucket Seats
I bought a set of the newer buckets with integrated belts for my truck. I didn't get them with the arm rest though I wish I did. Very comfortable, just have to fab a set of brackets for them.

They do look good. The untrained eye would bet that those are factory buckets...Especially with the console. |
Re: New Bucket Seats
these are the seats i had planned for mine. i think they are a great value...

Re: New Bucket Seats
but if your going to do it, might as well do it right!! these are what i'm going with now. they will custom make anything and do what ever you want to the seat. even armrests! i think they a going to look saweeet with a factory console in the middle done up in 2 tone.

Re: New Bucket Seats
They appear to be identical to these seats sold by Speedway Motors for $210 each that I was considering for my truck.
http://www.speedwaymotors.com/Low-Ba...Seat,8932.html Is it just me, or do they look like old VW Beetle seats? Slonaker EDIT: http://images.speedwaymotors.com/RS/.../9101400_L.jpg |

The price includes the seat adjusters, the backs tilt / recline and they have a map pocket in the back. Upholstery is tight, and they are comfortable. http://www.summitracing.com/parts/SCA-80-1400-51L/ Check out posts #45 & #55 of my build thread for more info: http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...=363509&page=2 |

good eye Ken. i'll look into them more before i pull the trigger

Re: New Bucket Seats
I am really anal when it comes to upholstery work. I looks very closely at stitching, seams, fit and finish, etc. There were other things I saw that got my attention, but those screamed at me.

Re: New Bucket Seats
The black seats with red trim and V8 logo are ideal for our truck, so I phoned for quote. $700 including shipping, and takes 4 weeks from order date.
However, the fabric is polyurethane, I've been trying to read up about it and seems like it is a lot more durable than leather or vinyl. I wish I could find some silverado seats in a dark grey or black leather. Keep watching craigslist and ebay. |
