Cutting 4x4 driveshaft LWB to SWB
 

Finally found a driveshaft for my truck, but I need to have it cut to a swb length, question is do I measure for length with the chassis and no body, or should I wait until truck is finished and the weight of the cab, bed, etc.... are on the chassis? Driveshaft doesnt seem to have much travel as it is a 205 case. Thanks!

The slip joint should be at the midpoint of its travel when the truck is at normal ride height. If you would rather measure for the shaft length before the truck is assembled, load enough weight onto the frame to simulate the cab and box. I would guess about 5-600 lbs should do it

Also make sure that the driveshaft does not limit the travel of the suspension... The slip yoke should still have travel at full extension of the springs and at full compression.
