Axle removal tips????

I have a 71 axle i want to take of my dads old truck and put it on my 69 to convert it to 5 lug but have been having trouble with it. Any tips to help ease the process would be great. Also i pulled the brake booster off a old gmc truck and was wondering if there was a way to tell if it worked before i installed it, any information on any of these two subjects would be great.
Thanks

What are you having trouble with? If its rusted bolts then penetrating oil (not wd40) is your best friend. soak all the fasteners down good then let them sit a day or so, if they are still being stubborn heat from a torch can help out too.

Edit: I just re-read this and I realized I'm not sure if you are swapping the whole rear or just pulling the axleshafts to swap over. If you are swapping just the axleshafts then I think there is a difference in the length and you would be better off swapping the whole rear. I'm sure someone who knows more about this will chime in. Good luck.

if just trying to swap axelshafts// make sure that they are the EXACT same length some r not interchangable

if just swaping the whole assembly , just cut the mounting ubolts 4 quick removal

the 71 axles are LONGER the break was in mid 70...
that being said like Cdowns said cut them off and avoid the BS its also a good time to add lowering blocks if your going that route

as far as the Booster.....you could lay it on the fender and hook up a vacumline and listen for the motor to change tune but I havn't found any real way to check them

Removing the u bolts, we tried a saws all but kinda got dangerous and so tomorrow were going out with a cutting wheel to remove them. So i should take to whole assembly? What should i all take to make this as painless as possible(i hate being half way through a project and realising i have the wrong stuff lol)?
Thanks
