annoying lights problem

I have a real annoying lights problem.

When I have my headlights on, everything is fine.

As soon as I turn on my blinker to the left or right the reverselight and blinker start turning on and off and the dashboardlights start blinking too.

I looked at the electrics and it seems that the brake, blinkers and sidemarkers al seem to share ground connection, which I dont understand.

can somebody please help me fix this.

The funny thing is, as soon as I uncrew the complete right rear brake/blinker unit, the problem is gone.

I already tried repacking the ground wires that are all connected together behind the unit.

And then when I screw the unit back in, it'l be fine for some time and then out of the blue "the christmas light act" comes back again.

please help!

If I can, I'll make some pictures tonight. But I checked the wires in the brakelight unit and checked the wire going fro there to the ground connection inside the car in the back.

I agree, it is a ground issue. And it just might be in the weirdest place. My old Nova had a center console and when my headlights were on I had similar weird issues that you are having. It took me forever to find the ground that was underneath my console and seemed completely un-related. Good luck!

the annoying thing is that it seemd to be only in the taillights, but after I installed a special "LED-flasher-module" it also seems to go to the dashboardlights...

where do I start? any advise?

alrighty,

got some investigation done today.

I opened up the right rear light! I immediately noticed a ground connection I had never seen before. IT is behind the rear lampunit and directly connected to the chassis. It was a bit loose and corroded gray. I then unscrewd it, cleaned it up, screwd it back in again and tightened fastly. After that the problem with my lights was gone.

I then tried installing the same LED bulbs I use for me front flashers in the grill. (see pciture). In the front flashers they work fine, but they wont work in the rear.

well they do work, but not like in the front. In the front the front of the LEDS light up in one mode (DRL) and ALL (front and rear of the bulb) light up in the other mode (flasher).

I already installed a special flasher module for LEDs.

Can anybody please explain to me how the wiring of these brake/flash/night lights work?

there seems to be a strangely shared ground? please explain?
