One reason folks don't do more of 'em is the shape of the frame rails. There's only a couple of inches worth of room for tubs. Mine is started but that's about as far as it's gotten with a lot of other projects in the way. I'm using a cab & chassis frame with 34" wide frame rails that are straight rather than the curved rails of most of this generation and will be using a 4-link setup.

I did a GOOGLE search and found a couple pics. I thought you could inboard the rear springs like on a 73-87 and make the wheel tubs wider, I'm very interested in more information.

The springs can be inboarded but since the frame rails aren't straight, it's a PITA. The frame is wider at the front of the wheel tubs than the back, only lets you tub a couple of inches. I wanted WIIIIDE steamrollers, so I went for the C&C. I found a second bed and a set of dually fenders in great shape, may end up going with a dually rearend with a pair of 10.5's on each side... The beauty of a truck is that if I set it up right, I can run single steamrollers or a pair of 10.5's, depending on what I want at the time. With a 4-link setup and an overhead sling in the shop, I should be able to swap rearends and beds in an hour or so.

Brownsville, do you have the paint code for your truck? I'm restoring a 89 and am looking for a good color and think I found it. plus now i wont have to redo my ENTIRE interior. that is one sweet looking truck.

My personal definition requires nothing less than a stroker...big block, that is. Anything under 496 cubes just doesn't cut it.
The "all show, no go" ain't my cup of tea. If it has steamrollers on the back, you need an engine that can light 'em up.

I dont get the whole concept of "pro street", Lets shove a Huge ASS motor in something and then cut the car/truck up along with tubs and lose all street driving ability. ???? just don't get it.

I like my hot rods streetable and simple, that can straightin the curves and ALSO haul the mail down the 1/4. This 80's pro-street stuff is for the birds!!

Me neither. That green one was the same way; other than the CAI it was bone stock. I don't get it. It's the opposite of "walk softly and carry a big stick."

It does look awesome though.

It's a good thing everyone has different "likes" or this would be a bland world we live in. !!!

Maybe some of us older guys couldn't afford to Pro Street anything back in the "80's" but now can, Does that mean we can't have now what we couldn't have back then ???

Should we have to leave our "TRUCKS" stock to fit in with the crowd ???

Psst..... Did ya know..... Trucks weren't designed to "straightin the curves" but to haul ???

Ahhh..... Mine just hauls faster. ;)

What you like is Pro Touring. That's my '81 4-speed Corvette.
Pro Street is a car that looks like it belongs at the track but is streetable. A big motor is a lot easier to make streetable than a high winding small engine. A true Pro Street car/truck is very streetable, no heel/toe driving needed. Big honkin' tires and big, loud, choppy engines.
There are a lot of genres of street cars, all with huge followings.
What I don't understand is 20"+ wheels that look like trash can lids and rubber bands for tires that can't take a bump at more than 2mph and ride like iron-wheeled wagons. Or trucks that are slammed onto the pavement with front tires splayed out like a knock-kneed fat chick. Or imports with boom box stereos and fart pipes with no power. They're not my cup of tea, but as I said, to each his own.
Restorob, I'm another old fart that had kids in the 80's and couldn't afford a ProStreet anything. I liked 'em then and still do, now that I can afford one I'm going whole-hog. I have several different cars and trucks, each different from the others. Some for work, most for play :D
