Re: big block in a 57 ???
The firewall shouldn't be an issue. Remember, the engine compartnment is long enough for an inline 6. Now as far as steering, exhaust, and other fun stuff like that, you are on your own.

Re: big block in a 57 ???
Im hoping to swap to power steering from a 70's k10 so that shouldnt be a problem, and Im sure that there is headers out there that will work. I was just worried, when I look at my 2ton with a 283 and thought it looked pretty snug in there. Its going in a 4x4 if that makes any difference...

Re: big block in a 57 ???
Ok, I made an assumption that maybe I shouldn't have.
If you are running a manual transmission, and the bellhousing is sitting on the stock crossmember, it's not going to work. You will have to move the engine forward. Ray |
Re: big block in a 57 ???
Im also swapping in either a th350/np205 or 700r4/np241 so the stock crossmember will be gone, I also have a tubular universal engine crossmember I will use...

Re: big block in a 57 ???
I put a 500 Cad with matching transmission in a 59 ton and a half. Tight
fit, the only mod was using the original transmission mount and moving it forward some. As you know the cab is the same, but the fenders are a few inches longer. Don't know if you have the room, length wise or not. Good luck |
Re: big block in a 57 ???
I,ve got a Big Block in a '56 ,should be the same. Sanderson makes headers for these trucks.
