Progress pics on the '78 Silverado
Here are the latest progress photos on my '78 Diesel. I bought the dash pad for $20 bucks and had the vinyl paint already. Not too bad for a sunday afternoon. I didn't get any before pics of the new dash pad but it was a darker color almost like the original one. I am super happy with how it is coming along. The new carpet and door panel carpet will be here hopefully by the end of the week. I hope everyone enjoys!

Re: Progress pics on the '78 Silverado
OK, so tonight I was able to start the tonneau cover project. I spent $90 at Home Depot and I already had the vinyl that will cover it. Here is a preview of how it will sit on the bed. Tomorrow I should have the vinyl installed.

http://i234.photobucket.com/albums/e...1/SDC15924.jpg http://i234.photobucket.com/albums/e...1/SDC16051.jpg In these two photos is that a factory electric clock in your instrument panel? It looks like it has been redone (at least the adjusting knob that sticks out) did you get yours refurbished, a new one, or is the knob new? Mine looks like crap and is rusty (plus the screw on knob on the end is gone) and I want to make it all shiny like yours! :lol:So how'd you do it? |
Re: Progress pics on the '78 Silverado
nice work...that bed cover has really go tha wheel turning in my head

Re: Progress pics on the '78 Silverado
Cort,
That is so close to being factory original, I may be inclined to put some Chevy factory rallys on it with some 255/60 X 15 tires or bigger, whatever fits. I would put 3 spoke spinners on the center caps.;) Got any engine pics posted anywhere? |
Re: Progress pics on the '78 Silverado
That turned out nice. Looks like a new carpet kit and your on a down hill roll.

Re: Progress pics on the '78 Silverado
Man, forgot about this thread.
the "10" - That is the factory clock. I have done nothing to it, and it has done nothing for me. Doesn't work. I haven't done a whole lot lately, asthetically, but here are some newer interior and exterior pics. All of the progress lately has been mechanical and electrical, mostly with fixing the previos owners installations:smoke: and cleaning things up. I have put just over 10,000 miles on this rig since the last post on this thread. It has been wonderful and reliable. Although, today, the heater core decided it no longer wanted to be sealed. B*stard. http://i234.photobucket.com/albums/e...1/SDC16435.jpg Got the '73 grille installed. Much better. http://i234.photobucket.com/albums/e...6/SDC16424.jpg |
Re: Progress pics on the '78 Silverado
I'd definitely keep the '78 grille with the diesel emblem, but that's just me. Or find a good '78 grille and re-use your emblem. That just makes it so much cooler being original (to me). That's the only thing I'd do differently though, you're doing a great job and the truck looks awesome! Keep up the good work!

Beautiful truck.

Re: Progress pics on the '78 Silverado
Yes!!! Beautiful truck, in one of my favorite color combos. I will support the idea of 15x8 rallys and 3" trim rings. The wheels you have now will sell in a few days on craigs and may cover the entire purchase.
How did you find a truck with buckets and console? I want that set up. |
Re: Progress pics on the '78 Silverado
Thanks guys! I bought it from a close friend and the original owner. He ordered it from the factory with buckets and console, short bed, and diesel package.
