Friction plates for door hinges
 
Hey guys in getting ready to rebuild my door hinges. Ive got the pins and bushings ordered does anyone know where to get the friction plates for the top hinges.

I repair the existing ones by cutting pads out of brake shoe material and gluing it to the holders (after removing the old pads). The pads last a long time when made this way.

How thick do they need to be. I think it might be more of a pain to make them as opposed to buying them

To the best of my knowledge no one makes them so it's up to you to make your own. Unless you can find some NOS stuff some where.

Thats what I was worried about. I have never seen them offered for sale. I guess I might be making some then. Any idea how thick the piece should be

Is there a how too on rebuilding the hinges. I think I saw one before
