I got these bucket seats that i took out a 78 chevy truck, i know that 73-78 chevy trucks some came with them as factory option, i know these are not blazer or suburban seats cause those are different, has anyone else seen these? Here is a picture. looks like someone got a hold of the drivers side.. lol..

Buckets were an option in thrucks thru 81. Truck/Burb/Blazer seats were identical, aside from the rear panel the Burb and Blazers had on theirs.

Those covers do not look factory, and the console is a 81+ unit.

i got alot of people saying they are factory, cause blazer and burbs are way diff..so what do you think they are from?

Here's the money question. Did you get the brackets that attach the seats to the floor? They are what's really rare. The seats themselves and console are the same as the blazer/suburban units. The unique pickup brackets are the hard part to find when you want to put buckets in a regular 2 door pickup. If you didn't get them yet, go back before someone else does...

The upholstery looks like what was in my '81 Blazer. They might be '81 seats.

yeah i got the whole truck.. so i do have the tabs.. so how can you tell if the seats are factory?

Re: Original 73-78 chevy truck bucket seats?

As mentioned the seats appear to be factory. They are late 77 or newer, but could have been installed later.

What you seem to be missing is the fact that all high back buckets were the same. The difference between truck, Blazer, or Burb was the brackets that the seats mount to.

yeah i figured that, i pretty sure these are factory, i want to put on my truck and be able to say that they are, i know the blazer ones have brackets that lets you pull the passenger seats up and these do not.. im just trying to get all the info i can on them so i wont look dumb when someone ask me if they are stock.. thanks again

Re: Original 73-78 chevy truck bucket seats?

no way to tell if they came in a truck or a blazer, because the seats are the same, but the brackets are truck only.

I agree with bigblock73. Both the console and the seat covers look to be post 1980. But they are definitely factory equipment.

I've wondered if anybody has tried this, what if you used a set of benchseat tracks on each bucket seat. would it work? if so you could use the tracks from 2 bench seats because theyre way easier to find... might be something to look into

As mentioned above, it's the way they were mounted to tell if they are factory or not. Truck mounts have a different mount than blazer/Burbans simply because the floor of the blazer/burbans are flat and trucks have a slope that the mounts have to sit on. SO by looking at the mounts to the floor if they have factory welds or were welded/bolted in later.

Suburban seat tracks can be used in trucks by bending the rear tabs up, not ideal but truck buckets are much harder to find than Sub seats.

You will still need the "towers" regardless for the inside mounts on both seats.

These seats were taken out a 78 truck, if anyone is still interested in them let me know.

If you were closer I'd be interested. I need to head to Pick N Pull Saturday to hopefully find a set out of a Suburban.

Bench seat brackets from a 79 truck work best for putting buckets into these trucks. I'm in the midst of doing this myself and it takes VERY little effort to make it work.

Curious to know more, specifically, how you made the inners work? I assume you are using two bench seat tracks?

Correct. You will need the brackets from 2 bench seats to be exact. Then the sliders are placed towards the door for the driver and towards driver for the passenger.

With the seats I have I notched the front of the rails because I didn't know how far back I would have to go but on the passenger side when I do it I can just measure back and drill a new hole.

I'm finishing up my motor but in the next week or so I should be ready to put the passenger seat in. You'll need the two metal brackets and drill 2 holes for the seat brackets but thats it.

You'll have to get creative as well if you want to allow the seats to slide which is an added bonus using the bench brackets as you can have slidable seats.
