couple frame issues
So I started tearing everything down to install my Dropmember and noticed a few abnormalities. What do you think I should do?
First it looks like someone has welded the crossmember to the frame. Not a promlem, I can cut it off and clean it up. It looks like there is a large bump/dent in the frame just in front of the crossmember. Is that normal? Next the front crossmember that holds the brake prop valve has cracked and been tacked back together. Should I replace it with a new one or build one out of 4130 tube? http://i54.tinypic.com/33c88hw.jpg http://i52.tinypic.com/k1roz5.jpg |
Re: couple frame issues
What year model truck? I looks like it may have been hit in the front...there looks to be a wave in the lower flange of the frame rail in front where the sway bar bracket was mounted...

Re: couple frame issues
It is an 84, wonder if it was hit. I did not see any other damage other than this. Wonder if I can work around this or straighten it.

Re: couple frame issues
Its clear that it's bent, which is not good. I would look hard at what else is crooked before I considered the install.

Re: couple frame issues
^x2. I looked at the 82 in my drive, you definently got a damaged frame.

Re: couple frame issues
yea, it's only the drivers side from what I can tell and before the crossmember only. I might see what I can do and if nothing lines up look for another frame/truck.

Re: couple frame issues
Maybe give state frame in Ontario, Ca a try to fix it. They did miracles to my buddies off road truck

Re: couple frame issues
I'll hit them up once I get the wheels back on. Thanks!
