00 Yukon. No fuel pump!

Hey guys. I have a 2000 GMC Yukon with 5.3. I aven't been driving it muchlately and went to start it yesterday, but it seems that my fuel pump went out. Normaly when I turn the key on, I hear the fuel pump kick on and I wait for the pump to build up pressure before starting. This time I don't hear the pump kicking on. I'm hoping that it's a solenoid or fuse, but I don't see a fuel pump fuse inside the vehicle or under the hood? This problem is perplexing because I have never had any problems with this vehicle and I am the origional owner. Any help is much appreciated. Thanks

The fuel pump relay fuse will be labeled "ECM B" in the under hood fuse box.

Your fuel pump is probably out. But it chould be a blown fuse, or a bad connection at the fuel pump module?

Try tapping the bottem of the tank with a rubber mallet....if it starts the carbon brushes are bad in the fuel pump.

Somebody steal your gas?

Yeah, I know, it would still hum with no gas in it...

The reason bumping the tank works is because the pump is spring loaded and pushing against the top and bottom of the tank. It's kind of in the center...

Thanks for the advise guys. I checked the fuse which is fine. The check engine light is now on, so i'm goin to borrow a scanner and see what's goin on.

Well, as they say, it gets mo serious. Hooked the scanner up and it had no power, tried another with the same result. What would cause the scanner to not recieve power with the key on?

Check the fuse labeled CIGAR. If the trucks not running the check engine light will stay on.

Cigar fuse was blown. Scanner now has power, but still no dice with the fuel pump. Is there a fuel pump fuse or just the "ecm b" fuse?

The "ECM B" fuse is the only fuse for that curcuit. Your checking for battery power on both sides of the fuse? Or are you pulling the fuse & looking at it?
Always check a fuse with a test light/volt meter so you know power is getting to the fuse.

Check for power at the fuel pump connector (under the truck) while cranking the engine. The wire color will be Grey.

Like I posted earlier its probably the fuel pump, If your 11 year old truck still has its original pump, I whould change it anyway.
