WTB 72 4 X 4 Frame

Seeing if there might be any 3/4 4 X 4 frames around PA/MD/WV that are not completely rusted away?

Thanks, Alan

i know its a road trip..i looked at this thing today...frame has light surface rust on it you can wipe off with your hands...came from calif..nice frame..in the wedge of southwest VA almost KY border..Bill is great to deal with too.

it is a thick frame..almost 1/4 inch..longbed.as all 3/4 tons were 127 wheelbase...

There is a difference in 68 and 72 frames. One being the spring lenght and another being power steering box / mounted to frame. 68 frame does not have raised area for PS box.

DPassmore...Thanks for the clarification on the frames 68 vs 72. I would like to stay with the 72 style frame which should include 71 also?

Re: WTB 72 4 X 4 Frame

The one that billsbowtie has is power steering..and 67-72 4x4 frames are all the same..spring length's are all the same..73 went longer springs.

Hollinder interchange shows all 67-72 1/2 and 3/4 frames the same thing.

not true... springs are longer on 67-68's and they don't have the raised pads for power steering boxes to mount up. There are also differences with e-brake cables, shock mounting and some other small items.

Only had ps frame issues with 67's. All blazers even 2nd gens rear springs were 52". Have had both 50" and 52" on 3/4 ton rear leafs. You can concave the outside of frame on 67 ps if you are handy with heat and sledge hammer LOL.

Blazers came out in 69 with the different length springs and that ran through 72. Also, the Blazer have a reinfored plate behind the mounting raise area for PS gear. Truck frames did not. As far as know, most 67-68 4x4 were manual boxes. There was power steering but mounted differently.

"You do realize that the 67/68 suspensions are the red headed step child of after market suspension suppliers right? As far as I know there are no aftermarket dealers supplying suspension lifts for the 67/68 years.

I had to have mine redone at a spring shop that made springs for large trucks, and that was over ten years ago and today? doubt it." Quote from another board member on 67-68 springs.

I don't have the measurements of the springs, but, if mgross chimes back in I'm sure he could lay it out. There are mounting kits available to install different lenght springs and the aftermarket kits springs are only 2'' wide. Stock springs are wider, I`ve known guys to put spacers between the spring eyes and the hangers.

Re: WTB 72 4 X 4 Frame

I appreciate the all of the responses...I think I am going to stick with 71/72 style frames.

I know of some frames available in the midwest/west but just trying to find rust free on this side of planet so I don't have to drive.
