Re: frame paint
If you have a friend that will powdercoat it for free that's a great deal. Por-15 is durable and easy to fix if it gets dinged but powder is much tougher.
Por is also UV sensitive but that shouldn't be problem on the frame. Kim |
Re: frame paint
I painted my frame with POR15 which worked out fine but the stuff isn't cheap and don't get it on your skin or clothes!!!!!

Re: frame paint
I used a product called Chassis Saver which is pretty much like por15 and it is solid. I too is not cheap but it is toug as nails. If you can get the frame powder coated for free....I would take the offer and use the por15 for inside the fenders and such.

Re: frame paint
This is a NO BRAINER, use your friend... He did offer. If you use POR (paint over rust) on that new (none rusty steal) it will come off in big sheets, ask me how I know. It will chalk even on a frame if not top coated. If you must use it, read the can and follow the diretions to a tee. If not for the friend, what I would do (did) was have it sandblasted then epoxy primer and simi gloss AE top coat. You can brush por 15 on a frame and it will look great. You won't want to top coat it, but it won't stay that way.
