bought a dealy

i bought a new throttle barcket from jegs made by edelbrock. i have the cheapo chrome mr gasket one now that goes on the back crab bolt and it works like crap. this is what i ordered

http://www.jegs.com/images/products/3508036_large.jpg

buts that is not what it looks like at all. its the same pn but the one they send out is much cooler. its a real nice design and has like a black crinkle finish on it and really looks nothing like that one they show in the catologue. i'll get some pics when i put it on this weekend.

i also got some dist gear shims so i can fix my timing, and looks like i'm buying a 12 bolt from a member that has either 3.42 or 3.73 gears in it so i will be cookin in no time:D

LOHRTBT 02-25-2003 07:09 PM

DAMN...I want the 12 bolt with gears!! :)

Tom 02-25-2003 07:25 PM

dam, I already have two 12 bolts w/ 3.42's :D

Was the mr. gasket braket giving you trouble? I cant seem to get my TV cable right, and am also using that checkers thing. The edelbrock backet looks the same though....

LOHRTBT 02-25-2003 07:29 PM

DAMN TOM!! HAHAAHA

swervin ervin 02-25-2003 07:56 PM

Well, where's the dealy? I wanted to see what it looks like. Never seen one before that I can remember. :D

the dealy is whats in the pic. thats what i ordered but wha they sent me looks alot different, i will get pics of the bracket i got this weekend, its pretty cool

tom, i was having trouble with that mr gasket bracket, it flexes under full throttle and when the tranny kick down activates. gchem was having the same problem so i think he braced his until he gets a new bracket

yeah man i can't wait, if i can fix the timing and put this rear in soon its gonna haul a$$

84Stepper 02-25-2003 08:17 PM

I need that rear end realy bad also. The stock 273's are kicking my butt. My truck is way to slow off the start, but after that it hauls ass. How much are you paying for that 12 bolt? Because after I paint my truck I'm gunna start looking for something!

yeah i think i have 2.73's too which is my problem off them line. the guy just posted the rear end today in the for sale section under 75 parting out for 100 bux and i jumped on it as soon as i sas it since he is only like 30 min from my house in dallas.

yeah man, thats tight. csi makes one like that that they sell in summit for like racing application i think but theres isn't billet like it looks like that one is, nice!

LOHRTBT 02-25-2003 08:44 PM

oh damn you got lucky!! crap that is awesome for a 12 bolt. :)
You officially suck
I have 273's too i think

AirMale 02-25-2003 08:57 PM

I noticed a few 12 bolts in the U-Pull yards around here($90) but they won't let you bring torches in to get em' out. I think I'm gonna rent a cordless sawzall and get me one too! Nothing wrong with the corporate 10 bolt cause these trucks can't hook for $hî† anyway. But you gotta love just havin' that 12 bolt! One more thing...it seems like the limited slips are a little cheaper for the 12 bolt vs. the 10 bolt.

apstguy 02-25-2003 10:44 PM

I think I have 3.14... but I'm not sure.

I guess I''ve done things a bit different---I have an Eaton 33-spline 12-bolt with 3.73's but only a tired 305. :(

79BIG10 02-26-2003 01:55 PM

Ryan how does it work with the carb you have? I was wondering as well since I have the same problem you had on the flexing as well. Also let me know when you're swapping that rear out. If I'm off I'll head over and help you swap it out.

i haven't installed the bracket eyt but will this weekend and i'll take pics. i think its going to work great. me and my friend matt are just driving up to dallas on sun 9th picking up the rear in irving, picking up some lexas bucket seats for his truck in dallas then heading back down here that same day. that next week is spring break and we are gonna 4/6 his truck, put the 12 bolt in mine and mabey put the buckets in his if we have time. its gonna be a fun spring break:cool:

c10scotty 02-26-2003 10:36 PM

low c10 did you notice a pretty big difference when you changed your gears? ive been thinking about goin with 3.73 or 3.42 posi to replace my 2.73 's. its a 12 bolt by the way. i figure its a good performance mod that i can do before i get a new 350. am i right?
how much would i be lookin at roughly??
im not gonna put any money in the pos 305.

Tracy Focht 02-27-2003 10:38 PM

Talk about a swap, I went from 3.07's to 4.11...

But I love it!

79BIG10 02-28-2003 03:32 PM

Tracy what RPM you running at 70 MPH with that TH350?
