Vibration Question

hey guys,

My truck has a crazy vibration around 45-50. It has a 350/700r combo and just around the time it locks into overdrive is when the vibration starts, Where do you guys think it is coming from? driveshaft outta balance? tires?

I almost have to assume its driveshaft related, you can practically feel the vibration come on as soon as the trucks locks up in 4th,, but im not experienced in this area so I desperately need your help.

thanks in advance guys

Re: Vibration Question

If the you only get the vibration during "lock-up" its probably converter clutch chatter. Could be a bad lock- up switch,or the converter clutch is worn out etc.

Re: Vibration Question

thanks,

Well I can get a smaill vibration elsewhere around 30-35 but it doesnt last long and goes away until around 45-50. just hard for me to believe it involved the converter.

but you may be correct, anyone else have an opinion?

If you are getting the vibration and it's before the transmission enters lock-up then it isn't in the converter. Check the easy stuff, engine mounts trans mounts, exhaust isnt hitting something under load etc.

Re: Vibration Question

For an easy way to check, unplug the wiring connector at the transmission. If you still get the vibration, you know it isn't coming from the clutch.
