Tires & Wheels
I have a 66 step-side that my daughter and I are restoring. So I was wondering what size wheels and tires could we put on the truck. We are going to drop the front2 1/2" and the rear 3". Anyone have any answers?

Re: Tires & Wheels
i'm partial, but i personally think it's hard to beat stock steelies and blackwalls - either at stock ride height or lowered. here's mine at stock height. there's a myriad of caps out there to customize (I'm STILL trying to find a nice set of 59 impala poverty caps...) but that's just my 2 cents. Tire size is 235/75/15. Depending on the truck, would look great with www's with a non-white rim too.
Lucky for us all, just about ANYthing looks good on these trucks. jocko http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=422696 |

First off, allow me to say welcome to the site. Secondly here is a link to my personal favorite thread for ideas and inspiration. There are a lot of pages, and tons more pictures so it may take some time to get all the way through. You'll see there are ways to get almost any wheel you can imagine on your truck. Once you decide on a style, then all you have to do is find a set that fit your taste. Enjoy the pics, and again welcome. :welcoem: http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=107362 |

Re: Tires & Wheels
With a step side 8 inch wide rims are about all you can do.

I dropped my stepside 3" up front and 4" in the rear. I have 7" wide wheels with 245/60/15's and one side rubbed but probably because I needed an adjustable panard bar, but that was the biggest tire I could run with scraping. If you bend the inner lip up I am sure you can get something bigger in there.

I am a big fan of the "Big & Littles" look. Bigger diameter and width in the rear than the front.
Best way to determine the biggest that will fir is to get the ride height done, then measure from the face of the wheel mounting surface to the fender lip and frame, then pick the wheel and tires accordingly. |
