lowering 71 chevy with a six
cylinder engine with headers. wanting to know how low i could go with long tube headers? any pictures would be great. thanks

I say it will depend on how low the headers will hang below the frame. Do you have a picture of this currently?
Due to the position of the trailing crossmember, most exhaust system have to go below the frame at some point, if they are ran to the rear of the truck. That being said, my exhaust runs below the frame on my '69 SWB 250 I-6 truck, which is running a 4.5/6" drop. Check out the build thread in my signature below (Project Blank Slate) and see if this will help to answer your questions. It includes the install of the drop kit and the disc brake upgrade, as well as the installation of the new exhaust (stock manifold). IMO, you can run any exhaust you want, with a static/bagged drop, it just depends on your driving and the road conditions in your area. Obviously... there does come a point where you can go to far though. |
