found drivers door
Well drove out to the sticks this weekend to pick up a replacement door for my 76....it turned out to be in great shape and rust free. one large dent that popped right out once i pulled the door panel.
http://i528.photobucket.com/albums/d...9272001061.jpg not bad for $50! only prob. is there are mounting holes for the door panel that i will have to fix now....(marked in red) http://i528.photobucket.com/albums/d...0010630994.jpg i want to stick with the 76 panels i have.....here is my original door http://i528.photobucket.com/albums/d...9272001062.jpg or i can just go with the larger door paneling but i like the older ones? thoughts? |
Re: found drivers door
Never paid that much attention to how much door was being covered up over the years as the door panels changed. Now you can't even tell what color the door is painted except in the jams

Re: found drivers door
You will have to change more than that...the window regulators are different, window tracks the rollers slide in are different...you can't put 73-76 guts in a 77-87 door without modifying other things.

Re: found drivers door
You just want to put on the door, and install your 73-76 door panel right? If so, then the window crank will sit further from the door panel and it won't be flush (the shaft is longer on the newer doors vs the older doors). Does it affect the functionality...no, but it may look a bit odd. You may also need to change out the inside door handle...not sure if they changed with the door panels.
