!966 C10 wheel lug studs
I bought a set of chevy blazer 15x8 rally wheels for my 1966 C10.
I tried one of the wheels, when the lug nut was tighten down. The stud end was flush with the back side of the lug nut. Are the original studs long enough? Or do I need longer wheel lug studs? Thanks,Jimmy |
Re: !966 C10 wheel lug studs
If all threads of the nut are on the stud, your ok.

Re: !966 C10 wheel lug studs
Be sure to check that the wheel is fully seated against the brake drum. Some of the later wheels have a smaller center hole that doesn't fit completely over the original hub. If this is happening the lugs will feel tight, but the wheel won't necessarily be flush against the mounting surface.

I just measured the inside diameter of original and rally center hole. Both measured 3 1/2 inches.

The difference may be just a few thousandths....not easily measures with a tape measure. You might try some sand paper on the hub register of the wheel. I have the 6 hole 15 x 8 ralley wheels on my Suburban using just the original length wheel studs. A couple of them are a little tight on the hub though.

I'll take off a few thousandth from center hole. With a rotary file chucked in my cordless drill. Then sand the metal smooth.

That's only if you determine your not making contact with the drum face.
