Is there a more sturdy shifter?

So the PO put in a floor shifter, its a hurst shifter arm, Im not sure what kit he used on the tranny. Question is there a better shifter? The shifter is all loose and just feels flimsy and on two occasions the ceterpin has made its way behind the actual mechinism that shifts the transmission and stuck the truck inbetween gears. Any help would be great guys.

I just sold my truck yesterday otherwise I would give you a pic I had the same problem with the same shifter. There is a main bolt that runs through both of the shift arms, basically is the main bolt that hold the whole shifter mechanism together. If you tighten that bolt i will draw the two shift arms closer together and keep the pin from popping out on you. Make sure you have the pin wher it belongs before you tighten it down otherwise you will never get it back in there.

Basically they are universal shifters and they SUCK!!!! But hopefully that helps you a little bit.

Yeah they suck, I understand that it is "cool" to have the shifter on the floor but it causes huge headaches. I just wish there was a quality shifter out there to solve the problem
