cab mounts and crooked bed
 

I've noticed for several months now that my whole bed has kind of a "bent" look to it. i'm the second owner of this truck and it has never been in a wreck since i bought it with 17,000 miles on it. but when i walk behind it and stand about 20 feet away and look at the "level plane" of the top of the bed the back left corner is higher than the rest like the whole bed has been twisted! what caused that? i do go out to a property in east texas where the truck can sit at a tilt one way or another because of where we're working on the land but would that permanently damage it? how should i fix this?

also the cab mounts need replaced and i dont know whether i want to go with rubber or polyurethane. the poly's are cheaper it seems. i'm worried that the polys would give me a harsher ride and allow more road noise to travel through the cab. what do ya'll think?

yes i did and that seems like a good solution but i'm still wondering why it happened suddenly. it wasnt bent like that until recently :(

If the spring rates are the reason why its crooked then i would rather correct that with new springs rather than use spacers under one side of the bed because if the other side does it i will have to correct it further with more washers and i just dont like the sound of that.

I'll just sell the whole truck and get a new one :D

check your box cross members. on my old box a couple were partially collapsed and the body mounts were pushing up into the tubing.

i have also heard other guys say that sometimes the came from the factory partially skewed like that.

Yes - a lot of them leaned when new, right from the factory. Because the cab and box are seperate units, there's really nothing "up high" to keep everything straight (not like a Blazer/Suburban, where the body itself provides some structure).

Do check for damage, like collapsed box crossemembers or broken springs.

If that all checks ok then I'd just put a shim in the low side.
