Figured I would post this up since my friend wont take the time to sign up here..

Anyways,

22x9.5 ARD Tarantula Wheels
265/40/22 Tires (Not sure on the brand)
3/3 Drop - 3" Drop spindles - Shackles - Leafs Removed

We Spray Bombed the truck over the last couple of weekends, Turned out pretty well seeing it was done with spray paint.. Paint used was Rust Oleum SATIN Black This paint is some really strong stuff, I use it for alot of things.

We didnt snap any before pictures but I have some of it sanded in the garage so you get an idea, The white paint on the truck before was terrible this is a HUUUGE improvement over what it was.

That looks great! Good improvement. I need to do that to my pickup, How much many cans did it take?

Re: Friends '84 C10 SWB - 22s - 3/3 drop - Spray Bombed

It took alot, like 17 cans.. Because I did a few coats and sprayed the inside of the bed..

At first we used a traditional style can and the paint was really blotchy, we went back and bought 8 cans of this http://www.homedepot.com/Rust-Oleum/...atalogId=10053 Same paint but the nozzle is different and the paint sprays on much more flat then the other stuff and it covers better.

How in the world did you get it to look that good with spray cans?!?

Re: Friends '84 C10 SWB - 22s - 3/3 drop - Spray Bombed

Haha, I took my time and basically laid down the paint the same way they spray cars in booths, long passes with out stopping and starting with the can nozzle pointing at the truck.

Ya it came out nice, although, if I had even more time and he didnt live so far away I feel I could of done a better job on it. I took my time, but was still under a time limit.

After seeing your rattle can job for under 100 bucks there is no reason your pickup should look terrible like mine. Im buying some 180 grit today.

No wonder it turned out so nice. I would have stopped after 220.

Unless you're working bondo- or trying to get to bare metal- there is NO NEED to put anything less than 220 on your trucks finish. I use 80, then 180, to mechanically strip paint. If I am prepping to paint with a sealer- I'll 220 it, then 400....without a sealer, i'll wetsand with 600 grit. Paint finishes are ALL about the prepwork.

True, But there was some deep stuff that wouldnt come off with the 220 had no choice but to go down to bare metal. It feathered out really well cant even tell it was down to bare metal.

Ya its a really good color, ive done alot of small stuff on my truck with it.. I painted a 66 tempest with it before and threw a rock at the tempest after about a month and the paint didnt even chip off.

Came out really nice! does the paint come out in any other colors? like grey or primer ;)

muthstryker 10-06-2010 03:11 PM

Re: Friends '84 C10 SWB - 22s - 3/3 drop - Spray Bombed

In the SATIN finishes they only have black, brown, hunter green, and shell white. I only use the SATIN finishes because it seems to be so much stronger. But rustoleum makes so many different kinds of paints im sure you could find something..
