C Notch help
Any tips on putting a c-notch on my 85 C-10 The kit is a doetsch from jeff at CPP. The instructions state they are left and right and the long ends go to the front of the truck. Mine look to be identical length, width etc. The bolt holes line up exactly with each other...pics would be great

Here are some pics. The instructions say to inatall the flip kit, then mark the axle center and center the notches on the center line. Both notches are identical

Re: C Notch help
Generic instructions most likely.
Lift the axle to the frame. Mark the edge of the housing tube. 1.5" from that mark will be the centerline of the axle @ that drop amount. Measure & mark the centerline on each c-notch. Take the c-notch, & make a cardboard template of the notch area that gets cut out (including the centerline reference mark). Align the C/L of the template you make w/the C/L of the axle mark you put on the frame earlier. Trace the template & that's your initial cut. Grind to fit from there. *Use a drill bit for your corners & cut straight to the holes drilled. Rounded corners = less possibilty for stress related cracks. |
