box front panel replacement
Can someone tell me if it's possible to replace the front panel in a 1970 short box bed without totally disassembling the box. I have the panel unbolted and even loosened the bolts on the inner fenders. I haven't had someone help me try spreading the sides out enough to lift out the panel yet.
Thanks for any advise....Jess |
Re: box front panel replacement
This is something i'd like to know also, i've looked at mine dozens of times and it sure looks like it's possible, I need my head board straightened out.

Re: box front panel replacement
by removing the bolts holding in the bedfloor back to the rear of the wheelwells i was able with the help of a few 2X4's to spread the sides enough to get the front panel out and replace it with a good one

Re: box front panel replacement
Thanks cdowns.....now I know it can be done with a little more unbolting. The 2x4's sounds very helpful, too. Appreciate your reply.

i used cdowns idea to replace my panel about a month ago and it was very easy.

Re: box front panel replacement
I used cdowns method and got out my truck's panel. Next I have to do it again with the donor box...when the owner calls me. He's planning to use the back half of his '70 to build a wood hauling trailer. I'm swapping box panels with him and getting the rest of the truck.
