Finding Beds
Ok so after todays little exprience of looking a a bed caked with bondo, and dents, which i was told was perfect on the phone and in the pictures, I would like to know, if anyone knows where to get beds for square bodies, long bed, and preferably used, im not made of money so.. lol otherwise id build a new one. so just any input other than cragslist would be useful,
Thanks. |

Re: Finding Beds
Check your local utility bed manufactures. They quite often have the stock beds left in their yards from installing the utility beds. Sometimes they are stacked several feet high. Otherwise CL isn't bad, unless your selling and there really isn't that big of a market near me. Everyone has new trucks or old beaters.

Re: Finding Beds
Agreed. the bed i was looking at was 400. btw you own a beautiful truck! i thought red and silver only looked good on my dads powerstroke, but yours is amazing.

Re: Finding Beds
I still have one in the parts section for $500 complete with gate, lights and trim. It came from Southern California and there was no rust or rot anywhere. A few little dings but really nice for a 36 year old. I also had a buddy leaving early today to pickup a truck he bought in Denver and was going out with an empty trailer too.

Dammit lol

Re: Finding Beds
They wanted a hell of a lot for those.
I find trucks every once in a while for $400 and up with good beds, but you pretty much have to buy the whole thing. Just want a bed and it costs as much or more than the whole truck. All I need is a passenger bedside. haven't found one yet that i like, for a price that I like, but I'm sure it'll come at some point. Good luck with your search. |
Re: Finding Beds
After seeing the terrible body work on 2 different beds, id pay 4-500 bucks for a decent bed

Re: Finding Beds
Good luck, that's why my truck still has the no-dump, dump on it. Which will work out price wise, a decent used pick-up bed or hydraulics? I'll see at some point.

Re: Finding Beds
I've been using http://www.car-part.com/ its will help you search salvage yards.

Re: Finding Beds
Ive always thought there is a demand for west coast body parts elsewhere. I've actually in the last 6 months, scrapped 7 beds, 1 stepside, 2 sb fleetsides, and 4 longbeds, i cant even give them away out here.

Re: Finding Beds
Someone back east of california should start a chevy /gmc wrecking yard and buy the parts from the west coast, ive tryed before to set up a parts haul out there to meet chevy builders and it never panned out. last night i started to cut up a perfect 1990 suburban body no demand out here for a perfect rust free body but out east it would be worth the gas bill to someone. it sickens me to see how much i scrap out here.
