free gas tank to any member

Hi guys,I'm in the process of doing an LT1 swap into my 65 swb and part of the process means changing fuel tanks. I have an excellent original tank with good working fuel gage that I will donate to the first member that needs it for their project. The problem for most is that it must be picked up-no shipping, and I live in the southern NM village of Ruidoso. I know their are several members in the Albuquerque area so maybe one of you will need it. Let me know, because if no member needs it,I will then sell it on ebay-but to you guys its free.

Turbo, what is the new tank you are going to use? I’m looking for one that is not too deep that will scrape or hang down and be visible from the rear of the truck.

Re: free gas tank to any member

Willy,I've asked around on the boards and seems like the consensus is to use the 87-91 blazer/sub tank. If that tank is used on a mutiport engine like the LT1 however, the in tank pump will have to be changed to the high pressure pump. Not a big deal,as that is easily done. But I may have a better solution. My donor car for the LT1 was a 95 buick roadmaster, and I stripped that car of everything that I might possibly need-including the fuel tank. Those tanks are 23 gal and made of black poly. The black will be passive and hard to see. In addition, that tank is only 7 1/2 inches tall, which is 1 1/2 inches shorter than my old spare. It is too wide to fit between the frame rails, but if it is mounted where the spare was it will not hang down as much as the spare. I have not done a fitment yet so I can't tell you how it fits and looks but at least at this point I'm saying its "possible".

This is the stock unit that goes in the cab.Looking at catalogs,I think it fits 1960-1966 pickups and this one has a new sending unit for the gage.
