Blown Fuse - Running Lights

I started blowing the fuse for running/brake lights (includes dome light) the other night. The fuse would blow as soon as I turned on the running lights.

I found this post and followed the recommended steps to locating the short-to-ground.

As longhorn man pointed out, the harness was hacked up by POs for trailer lights. I fixed all that mess and was not successful.

Closer examination of the harness revealed the fault. The mounting hardware for the spare tire pinched the harness and caused the short. I just wanted to add that fact to the previous posts on the issue to help the next guy out.

Re: Blown Fuse - Running Lights

Thanks for the feedback. Blown fuses are almost always because of a short to ground.
