Greetings from Chico, CA!

Hey Guys,
I've been browsing the forums for the past couple weeks now in anticipation for the pickup of my 69 LWB that I'd been waiting for. I paid $1000 for it and the only rust I was able to find was on the drip rail and it looked to only be surface, not too deep. Overall I'm not looking to turn it into a show truck, but moreso a stock restoration slowly but surely.

I figured I would drop a note and introduce myself with a few pictures of my new ride. It's not my DD for now, but hopefully will be a partial DD soon. Specs on it are as follows.

1969 C10 LWB
350 Chevy Engine
Headers W/ Dual Flowmaster 40 exhaust (needs to be moved back to cut down on the sound)
Aftermarket (HEI I believe) Dist.
TH350 Tranny
Late 80's 60/40 Bench seat
Blasted and powder coated frame and blasted and primed bed.

Thanks for the welcome! It's got a lot that needs to be done to be a daily driver but luckily it doesn't need to be right now so I can take my time.

Welcome from Oroville! Don't see many people on here from our neck of the woods, there is one guy on here from time to time from paridise but that is about it. Looks to be a great start for a project for a great price. This is a great place to learn tons about these trucks! If you ever need a hand with something PM me a few days in advance and I'll see if I can help you out, I'm in Chico at least a few times a week.

Re: Greetings from Chico, CA!

Thank you for the kind words and the offer Jac! I certainly have learned a lot already in the couple weeks I've had the truck. Being in college my funds are limited as to what I can do with the truck as of right now, but I have always wanted one of these trucks and while it isn't perfect (LWB as opposed to SWB) it was too good of a deal (in my mind) to pass up. The seller was a stand up guy and let me know everything that was wrong and showed me everything from the frame to the cab to the engine breaking down any potential issues, luckily their weren't too many. The engine really just needs a good tune up after sitting for a couple years and it should be a good runner until I can get it fixed up how I want it. I will definitely let you know if there's any questions I have or help needed, and I'm available as well if you need it, I'm not much for knowledge on this stuff as of yet but sometimes a second set of hands can be helpful.

Also on the lookout for parts sometimes a couple sets of eyes looking around in the same area can be good in finding things. I'd love to get a little meetup together at some point when my truck is further along as it would be fun to get together and share ideas and what not.

I know how it is being slow going when you are a college student with limited funds (I'm in class at UC davis right now, maybe I should be paying more attention to the professor ). I'm not sure what parts you are looking for but there are some of our trucks in a junkyard in oroville that I've been getting parts off of for a leaf to coil swap on my truck. There is a 72 lwb that is pretty stripped and a 69 lwb that has a little more left on it, there is also a 66 that I got some rearend parts off of. They are all coil rear 1/2 tons. I haven't looked at the chico pick'n'pull in a while but they had one a while back. I would be down for a Norcal get together.

Re: Greetings from Chico, CA!

It's definitely difficult keeping up with school, a full time job, a girlfriend, family, friends.... and of course the new truck. The parts that I want/need right now are really basic, for I need a driver side hood spring assembly and possibly a passenger side one as well.. No big deal, just didn't see one at P-n-P here in Chico, but I'd have to look again. I also am on the lookout for a cherry grill (nearly impossible) If you see in the pictures of mine the area near the hood latch is damaged, but any decent ones are ~$200 or more and I'm too cheap for that. I may end up trying to fix mine if I can't find one reasonable enough.

The rest of the truck is fairly solid, eventually I would like sport bumpers and a hitch, but that's simple and more for looks than functionality. The existing bumper has a hitch, it just looks horrible.

The yard I'm talking about is right off of hwy 70 on feather river blvd, its called Oroville self serve and is owned by the guy that used to own the Chico p-n-p (before it was P-n-P). They are reasonable pretty reasonable price-wise. I am pretty sure they have the hood hinges you need but am not sure on the grill. I may go there on Sat. so I will check it out. I forgot to ask, what school are you going to? I went to Butte College for about 4 years (Changed major when I was almost done and got to start over). Good luck with the truck and school!

Re: Greetings from Chico, CA!

Good deal! I will have the check the one in oroville when I'm driving through (work has me all over nor-cal from time to time) and see how they run. There's a couple pretty nice trucks at a yard in Orland, but the guy who runs it thinks a little too highly of the value on the parts, he asks way too much for basic parts that can be had new for almost as much. Maybe he just takes me for a young fool with money (wrong on both fronts) but either way it's worth checking all of them.

Thanks for the offer to check on that stuff. If you're already there I'd appreciate it!
