What is a good looking 17 inch wheel and what is a good width?

Whats your budget? It's hard to beat the price of Boss or Coy wheels. You will want an 8 or 8.5 up front, and a 9.5 or 10 in the rear. If your going to spend the money, you should consider going 18s or 20's.

Forget anything over 17. I like to have meat on the tires. Rubberbands don't hold up to abuse and a heavy foot.

ya I got 20's now with 275-45R20 and the wheels are to heavy. I was thinking 17's because i still want something that is a little showy but not so big. I do think 10 inch wide in the rear is what i want and 8 in the front does sound good. I don't think i want to go with the thrust look because a lot of people have them around here.

i really dig TT ll's. people hate on them cause they are on everything but they just look great, they have the stout look of cragars with a little ne age swag to them. i like the grey centerd ones the best, i have yet to see them on a truck.

What does the size of the rim have to do with the sidewall of the tire? These are 20's and I don't think you can call them "rubberbands". Your comments are based on personal bias rather than facts.

These were 17's TTII's that I had on awhile back... then 20's on it currently. As far as the rubber band comments... just a matter of opinion and what you are wanting to do with your truck. In the end I wish I would of gone with 20's to begin with due to the costs... and the suspension changes that were involved. But I also don't drive it everyday like I used too...

Those are rubberbands. I think anything with a ratio of 50 or smaller is a rubber band. If want to abuse, load carry, and turn the corners like a Porch (ok you can try) you need meat.

I'm thinking 17 torque thrusts for my 78 shortie step side when i get to the wheels...everyone has them because they are bad ass.
Cragar has some wheels called eliminator that look pretty cool too.

Seriously dude, a 45 series tire is a "rubberband?" Have you ever had a tire smaller than a 50 series to be knowledgeable enough to offer an educated opinion? Once again, the size of the rim has NOTHING to do with the size of the sidewall, so I don't see your point.

I have had several trucks with 45 series tires and never had an issue with hauling loads, bending rims, traction, or any of the other "urban legends" that misinformed people like to throw out there.

Re: 17" wheels

i'll throw in my 2 cents on 20's.........the pictures of anthonys truck they look great because their tucking inside.in ken's example...that truck suffers from, wheels not tucking and no rake.it makes the tire and wheel combo too big and exposed.again, all opinion....my opinion....i'm not picking on the truck.if a pic gets posted it is up for scrutiny.i feel the same way when i post pics of my stuff.if i can't take the opinion comment's.i shouldn't post the pic..the owner is obviously happy with it or he wouldn't have taken a picture.if he likes it.that's all that count's....he footed the bill.:)
