4L80E swap questions

Looks like I'm going to end up with a 4L80e in my truck:devil:. Those of you that have done this swap, will it fit under a low hump cab? What did you use for your trans cross member and mount? Any other advice? Thanks

If you aren't running a drop member then it will clear fine, evne with a drop memebr it should clear, but will be a little tighter. As far as crossmembers goes, you can mod your stock one, or just get an aftermarket tube style one pretty cheap.

Re: 4L80E swap questions

I just put in a 7.4l with the 4l80e in my 68 with no problems. My stock rear mount would have worked fine, but I used one from a old turbo trans am that I had laying around.

The only problem I might could see that if you had your motor pushed way back outside of the normal location. Then it would hit the cab, but just about any trans would hit.

Thanks guys, I also PM'ed another member and he agreed with everything. It will clear low hump and use stock auto trans cross member. Thanks again, I'm sure I'll have more questions soon:lol:

My motor is set far back and raised up that the passanger side coil is about 1/8" away from the firewall. I run and 80E and it does not hit.
