1985 K20 Front Wheels won't engage
 

I put the transfer case into 4wd. Light comes on. Front wheels won't engage. NP208 transfer case. Goes into 4 wheel low with out issue - front wheels don't engage. I think the hubs are not locking. Truck has the GM 10 bolt axle. Could the hubs be broken? Can I just put in Manual Locking hubs and if so does anyone know the best hubs for this truck. I think the Warn 20990 are the ones I need but they show up as Dana 44. Thanks.

The factory automatic hubs were never that great in the first place. They get ingored/neglected and then are expected to work w/o notice.....LOL

Yes you can just replace them with manual hubs. Don't worry about the Dana 44 bit, the slide-in hubs fit either.

I assume the front driveshaft is installed?

Yep.

I bought the Warn Premium Manual Hubs off of Amazon. Should be in sometime this week.

Got my Warn Manual Hubs. Any tricks or gottchas that I should know before I get started with the install?
