Chassis paint and primer
Looking at painting my Chassis next weekend. Ihave pressure washed the entire chassis, control arms, and crossmember... sent them to the sand blaster... and will be getting it back on Friday. What chassis paint do you guys recommend. Not making a show truck... want something that will be durable.
How much paint and primer will it take? Thanks |
Re: Chassis paint and primer

Re: Chassis paint and primer
I've used rustolium satin black and Eastwood chassis black with good results. Both rattle can and easy to apply. I've tried por 15 and the results where disappointing for all the hype and expense.

Re: Chassis paint and primer
I used rustoleum primer and hammered finish black and accents in silver on my last frame. I like the texture it creates....similar to a silver vein powdercoat. With a frame that might need holes drilled in it and might get scratched I think it makes sense. It's easy to touch up if damaged also. I will be spraying another frame this week with it.

I went with Eastwoods Extreme Chassis Black Primer, then hit it with a scotch brite then 2 coats of the Extreme Chassis Black Gloss. Easy to work with covered good. It a heavy solid paint so anything you don't want overspray on i recommend you cover it. Don't get too close or it will run. The other parts i hit with the Silver Cad products.

Re: Chassis paint and primer
i have used rustoleum and eastwood paint on mine and they are about the same the rustoleum is much cheaper and you can buy it local when as you have to order the eastwood and pay shipping i sprayed both from a paint gun

Re: Chassis paint and primer
I used KBS rust seal, brush it on and it levels out to almost look like powder coat. I read awesome reviews and the finished product was great. Only took a quart for two full coats, even enough for the rearend. I think it's only around $35 for a quart.
