replacement gas tank

My just purchased blazer has a plastic gas tank. I can not fill it with gas, it backs up in the line, there is a small kink in the line going over the frame rail and around the body mount to the entry hole. I have moved the tank back against the rear crossmember to no avail. You squeeze the line and gas comes gushing back out the filler hole. (not good with your wife standing right there!!!) What am i doing wrong? Is there a metal hose attachment to get around the "corner"

could something be wrong with the vent system on your tank? check the line from the vent next to the fill inlet on the tank, it should go up to the filler neck to allow air to escape.

vent line is ok, i used my air compressor to check my lines

Was there a metal tube in the shape of a z from the tank to the filler hose to get around the frame?

Yes, there is/was. The original tanks had a curved neck on them that went around the front side of the body mount. The repro tanks dont come with that neck... you have to use your old one.

This thread is in the FAQ section: http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=212828 . It might help you some. The first pic is of the curved neck I was talking about.
