Got a 9" rearend for the truck
I picked up a complete drum to drum 9" rear for $50 last night. I couldn't get there fast enough to pick it up. I will have more pics and details of the teardown this weekend.

I understand the advantages of a 9" rear and don't care if its GM or Ford built. I question the application because in most cases the 12 bolt will hold up just fine. The additional expense of building a 9" to fit our trucks doesn't seem worth it for "most" applications. Not when you can buy a 12 bolt and drop it right in.
From the article you linked to- Ultimately, the selection of 9-inch vs. 12-bolt comes down to personal preference. If you are building a cruiser and want to keep everything GM, the 12-bolt is more than capable of taking the abuse. On the other hand, if you plan to flog your Bow Tie machine with slicks and lots of torque, it's hard to beat the 9-inch's strength and ease of service. Both are great pieces, so we'll let you decide. |

"ease of service" Is my selling point. Not bad talking the 12 bolt, but I like simplicity. (not that I ever take the easy route) But everyone may and will have their own choice |

I plan on having slicks and eventually lots of torque. The cost comparison between building a 12 bolt compared to a 9", I will come out a little cheaper with the 9". The 9" is one of the strongest rearends out there and are alot easier to change gears in as well.

When I said easier to change gears, I meant it is easier for me to do the gear set-up and to actually work on them.

I stuck a 9" under my old 87... I had a built 496, built th400 and had a shop build the 9"... wasnt cheap either... probally had 1200 in it when it was done w/o axles... stock axles stock ford pattern :( Re located the shocks and new spring perches and u-joints that fit and I was golden.

Not too familar with the topic but it reminded me of this 9" that has been for sale for about a couple of months now. This guy has been trying for a few months to get rid of a lot of similar stuff I've noticed plus has some bbc motors advertised.

My 9'' cost more than a 12 bolt by 200$ and its still a better piece that ill never have to revisit ever. Btw show me 3:82 gear for a truck 12 bolt lol
