Re: anyway to separate inner and outer bedsides?
I think the inner skin is spot welded to the outer skin.

Re: anyway to separate inner and outer bedsides?
drill out the spot welds then take a flat bar and work your way down the seam. If you are not trying to save the outer panel you can grind thru the welds with a die or angle grinder. I have replaced bed 'skins' many time on the 88-98 trucks and several on the 07 and newer body styles. it is a pretty easy job but it is labor intensive. But on these olds trucks that we treasure so much is'nt it all? Jim

im trying to eliminate the inner beside, but keep the outer

Re: anyway to separate inner and outer bedsides?
like mentioned above the inner is spot welded to the outer. youll have to drill out the spot weld or cut at the seams with a cut off wheel if you want to remove them.
the box is basically held together by the inners bolted to the bed floor, bulkhead etc. how are you going to bolt it all back together if you cut the structure out? |

Instead of seperating the two, have you considered just cutting out what you don't want ? That would be the easiest way to go and that way you would have the double wall to weld your tubing to and that will weld easier. Jim
