BBC Motor mount question

I'm installing a 454 in my 66 and would like to use the tubular style motor mount perches. Has anyone used them and where can I get them. I would like to use them because of the look and hopefully to give me more room for headers.
Thanks

I have a thread with pictures somewhere on this forum with my bbc with tubular mounts. Even still here are some pictures and yes you do get more clearance for headers. I have not run the truck yet. I hope to get it going by the summer though. I have been saying that for about 3 summers now.. Bottom of the page. http://www.truckandcarshop.com/trucks60_72/t60_097.html

nf65fleetside used them , here is a link to his build:
http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=279769

also I had pm'ed him asking about the same thing, here is the message he sent me:
I used the tubular v8 mounts the Truck/Car shop (same as all the truck parts stores though) Motor went in the same location as the sbc, not moving forward or anything like most suggest. Only reason for moving forward would be to have clearance if you run tall valve covers...the motor clears the firewall but with tall valve covers you will hit the master cylinder and or booster....as for trans cross member, i was running a 350TH already so I just opted for a new cross member from Truck/Car shop as well but could have left the original....drive shaft was ok, didnt need to adjust length due to no movement of motor and trans.
Going to a BBC is very simple, even down to running headers with it as well. Just find a set that is for a 67' to early 80's truck and your in business. I heard all of these horror stories of fabrication but once I got under the hood I laughed at all the guys making it way harder for themselves. Oh and theres no issues with weight too...I drove with cut coils in the front with mine and found no understeering issues or even plowing when braking. Any other questions on it drop me a line.

Re: BBC Motor mount question

I had firewall clearance issues for some reason. I could not get the heads to clear without moving the mounts to the front holes. I didn't want the engine that far forward, I wanted it to sit back.

Re: BBC Motor mount question

Thanks for the info. Mr fleetside are you using a newer front end? After moving the perch to the front hole did that give you enough room for the dist cap?
Thanks for your help.

Re: BBC Motor mount question

I didn't move the mounts to the front holes. I cut knitches in the firewall so the engine could sit back. There is plenty of room for my HEI back there. I will post a link if I can find my thread. Ok that was easy.. http://www.67-72chevytrucks.com/vboa...ig+block+build Kinda shows you what I have done so far.
