I'm thinking about ordering a set of drop spindles, that I don't really need yet,... because of the extra 15% off.

Re: Performance On Line "Black Friday" Sale! (11-26-10)

Any idea what brand parts they are? I am thinking of ordering drop spindles and a flip kit for my 86.

EDIT: Nevermind, after getting far enough into checkout to see actual shipping charges they want almost $50 to ship to TN which completely negates the 15% discount. Summit wins again.

Does Summit Racing have free shipping?

Another member recently ordered a set of drop spindles and said they were Western Chassis spindles.

Spindles come in one heavy box,... but I hate that shipping costs from CA are spoiling the deal.

I just shipped a large light weight box to Maryland and it was a little over $75.00.
The shipping costs are killing alot of my deals lately.

Keith I think Summit is offering free shipping if you spend over a certain amount. I recently bought a set of stainless brake lines. The whole deal was under 100.00 but they shipped for free. They do charge a flat rate "packing" fee

I checked address for shipping to my house (CA to MO) from POL for 73-87 2-1/2" Drop Spindles:

$228.99
+$23.45 shipping
+$20.04 tax
____________
$272.48 total
-$40.87 (15% discount)
____________
$231.61 delivered

Not bad for a set of drop spindles.

Re: Performance On Line "Black Friday" Sale! (11-26-10)

Still I would look around on POL's website.
They sell alot more than just drop spindles.
They also sell parts for more than just trucks.
They are great to deal with, and have quick service!

Re: Performance On Line "Black Friday" Sale! (11-26-10)

I guess the quotes are different because I am looking at different brand parts. From summit I was looking at the DJM stuff and it was:

DJM Suspension DS2045H-3 - DJM Suspension Drop Spindles (1.25" rotors) - $229.95
DJM Suspension FK1024-5 - DJM Suspension Flip Kits - $84.75
Delivery & Handling Charge - $12.95
Total - $327.65

My quote from performanceonline was:

Drop Spindles for 1981-87 1.25" rotor (DS7387) - $228.99
1973-87 CHEVY/GMC/C10, REAR AXLE FLIP KIT (RFK7387) - $119.99
Subtotal - $348.98
15% discount - -$52.35
Shipping to TN - $50.09
Total - $346.72

All in all it looks like for spindles only performanceonline may very well have been cheaper since the shipping would have been less. I doubt I will be ordering from summit since we have a forum vendor who is supposed to be able to beat any DJM shipped price but it is my go to spot for price comparisons.

You were correct on the DJM spindle price of $229.95.
I typed it in wrong.
I have corrected my post.

I was told by member protrash64, that the spindles were Western Chassis brand.
If the flip kits are also Western Chassis brand,... I would pay the higher $119.99 price,... because I think they are a better made flip kit than the DJM version. (just my opinion)

I share the same opinion of the flip kit options. I think the WC kit is better and more complete and it comes with spring plates and u-bolts. Also, keep in mind that the u-bolts are the incorrect size.

So where is the best place to order 1971/1972 c10 2.5" drop spindles from right now?

I would like to hear more about this if you could elaborate. Might be enough for me to order from performanceonline. I see that it comes with u bolts & plates while the DJM kit doesn't but I also see that DJM kit comes with shock extenders. It doesn't look like the one from performanceonline does.

The u-bolts that come with the kit are incorrect or the u bolts that I currently have won't be able to be reused or both? In case you haven't noticed I have never installed a flip kit.

I would call Performance On Line.
They can clue you in on what brand they sell.
(I wish they would just put it in their catelog or online)

I've installed two flip kits from DJM,... and I like the Western Chassis or Belltech kits better. (their c-notches are definitely better also).

I think you want the shock extenders to reposition the shock in a "more vertical" postion after installing the flip kit.
POL part # RSE7387 $49.99,... so they have them,... they are just sold seperately. (additional cost to sway you towards DJM)
Hmmm,...

After researching,... I would look at Summit Racing.
They sell several brands and usually have them in stock, ready to ship.

No problem man, I just installed my first back in August. The u-bolts that come with the western chassis kit are not the right size therefore cannot be used. I think they use the wrong size for the axle tube so they really can't work. As far as re-using your stock ones...dont! They are what's referred to as "strech bolts" and once they're torqued they should never be reused. Any local axle/frame/alingment shop can make you a set for real cheap.

Also, on second thought, the reason why I went with DJM's kit for my burb is because it came with shock extenders. I just bought it from summit racing, they had the best price by far. I am happy with the DJM kit and for me anyways, on my burb, I cannot use the truck c-notches so there was no use for me to buy a kit with them a part of it. Hopefully this helps.

I've never heard of this on the 73-87 flip kits.
Are talking about 73-87 trucks,... or 67-72 leaf spring trucks?

Hey,

I am currently installing a DJM flip kit on my 70' with 2.25" leafs. I found the kit to be great and all the parts are nice heavy steel and feel/appear to be quality. As for the U-Bolts, I just picked up my new main leafs today so soon I will be cranking them down to see how they feel, but everything fit great during the mock-up. Apparently DJM doesn't have too many fans, but this is my first flip kit and so far so good. Also, for the 70' they claim that no C-Notch is needed, so I never used one, no opinion on those.

My $0.02.
