shortys or mid length hedders
I need some hedders with a 02 bung in them for my TBI upgrade. Any suggestions?

Re: shortys or mid length hedders
Buy your favorite brand and weld the bung into the collectors... a lot cheaper and a bigger selection this way. I used 18MM spark plug defoulers from Napa, just cut off the threaded ends and voila an O2 bung.
I can supply pics if needed.... |
Re: shortys or mid length hedders
Do you have shortys? Yes I can do that , but I still haven't found a good shorty or midlength.

Re: shortys or mid length hedders
Chevelle mid length seem to be the hot ticket. I do not personally have a set on my C10 yet, but I do own a 67 Chevelle with mid lengths and the bends look right for the truck. There are also several threads on it...

Re: shortys or mid length hedders
I'm partial to the shorties after the trouble I had scraping the bottoms of the headers on my burb.
I bought some new sandersons a few years back and they work just fine sitting in the box in basement, I only hope the look as good and fit nice on the Ram Jet 350 I ordered today. Your comments on the sensor for fuel injection made me realize I might have to drill a hole in these beauties and weld in a bung. I sure don't trust myself for that...do you think you can put the sensor just past the shorties? |
Re: shortys or mid length hedders
If you use a heated sensor you can put it down the pipe aways. Non heated needs to be with-in 12 inches from port on head. If you look at trucks with early TBI with non heated 02 sensors they were usually in the manifold itself.

Re: shortys or mid length hedders
Thanks Breezy, I'm not sure if the sensor is heated or not. I'm discuss with the engine installer ( I know...but I'm really busy right now !)

I put my O2 bung in the reducer.
