truck on "Auction Hunters" tonight on Spike

I've never watched this show before, but tonight on "Auction Hunters" on Spike they are featuring a GMC pick up, I think maybe 71-72, don't remember. Comes on at 9pm central tonight. Just a heads up.

Different kind of show, not to bad. I don't think the numbers on the truck appraisal were realistic though.

Saw it, wish I knew about the truck before the show. I live about 40miles north from where the truck was and I would have picked it up for, what was it 400-$550. I think they got a good price for it, $6,000 after paint and such. Good looking truck.

I didn't get to watch it but I set the TiVo, so I'll catch it when I get back home next week. I always enjoy seeing something I have on TV, just feels cool :)

I saw it last night. it was a 71 gmc longbed they paid $650 the inside looked totally ragged out. they thew a cheap quickie paint job on it and tried to pass it off as a $7000 truck. when they showed the new buyer looking under the hood, the radiator hose wasn't even hooked up. then the guy jumped in it and started it, and drove off. :bsf: I hate when Reality shows aren't reality!

I noticed the radiator hose as well, just a mistake in the editing room I guess, or else the thing overheated about 5 minutes after the guy bought it!

I like when they said they spent 1000 on paint. They couldnt even paint the door jams at lease. Can remember what they said they paid to get the inside fix looks like they just cleaned it out.Heck my 72 GMC hauler inside looks better then that one did.300 to get it running. It was a fairly new crate motor what the heck did they do that cost 300 to get it running. Then the guy that bought it paid them 6000 for it.I wonder how much of that money they gave back to him after the show.LOL

its like those "wrecks to riches" camero shows where people "pay" unspeakable amounts of cash for rusted out shells, shells of which i have seen nicer on craigslist for 1000 bucks, only to dump a ton of cash on it and send it to barrett-jackson... whatever. lol.

and this is why every jerk thats got a muscle car with a tree growing though it in some feild thinks its work $60,000. barret jackson and shows like this have over sensationalized the classic car and truck market and brain washed average people into thinking that every peice of junk they have rusting away in the the field is worth a fortune. :banghead:
yah so a 1969 camaro sold for $120,000 at the barret jackson. it was totally original in pristine condition with 30,000 original miles on it! that dont mean that rusty peice of crap behind your trailer that you would have to bush hog to get too and cut 4 trees out of it to move it is worth $60,000 cuz its got the original stuff with it. (btw i pulled the figures out of my but to illistrate a point please noone hold me to em) *sorry kinda went off on a tangent there. oops

I watched the show and totally agree it was unrealistic. paint for a thousand bucks?
they did show some parts in the bed of the truck, so maybe they were able to put in a radiator etc. from those parts without spending too much, but either way it was total bull.
I love how before commercial they show the guys asking what it's worth as it sits right now
and then they skip the part where the guy tells them around 3000 to 3500 and jump to his other answer about what it could be worth if they put money into it.

"It could be worth 10,000-11,000 if you put 5k into it." Even that is BS, MR Classic car appraiser is as big an idiot as the 2 guys on the show.

Hello everyone, I'm the new guy. Thought I would start out with a bang and post in this old thread.

Enjoy.

Proof that show is fake.

I have no time for this project... my loss is your gain!

$1800 or best REASONABLE offer!

Email me your phone number and I will call you immeidately!

Nice looking truck with new paint...purchased at auction & have paperwork for you to process title...does not run, looks like it has a new crate 350 that has not been hooked up yet...body in EXCELLENT CONDITION! Interior in decent shape but needs some finishing touches...
Here's a link to the CL posting. Far cry from the shows $6k (?) sale price. It's still in the same location the show had it at.

Can somone screen shot this? Mine isn't working for some reason.

I watch a show recently, its about a family that lives somewhere in the desert, they have a junkyard and rebuild cars then auction them off. I can't remember the name of the show. Anyway on one episode they were rebuilding a charger, they did a quicky paintjob and talked about how the car was now restored, they didn't even take the weather stripping or headliner out before painting it! The did tear out the old headliner AFTER they gave it a lousy painjob but they left the ragged old weatherstriping in and sold it for some ridiculously expensive price. The paint had dry spots all over, the body panels were wavy, it looked horrible! The guy who bought it thought he got a deal! I bet he felt different after he had it for a few days and noticed all the flaws! I bet he felt even worse when he watch the show and saw all the shortcuts they used!

Its called Desert Valley Auto Parts and i agree. My dad had a red 68 charger w/ a 440 and a 4 speed when I was a kid. I have some good memories of that car and while they did bring it back from the brink, it was corner cutting, shoddy work and I was bummed they painted it green. *insert pukey smiley here*

This is awsome I knew that show was cr@p. I swear they plant a lot of that stuff in the units too.
You know what else I saw although I hate to say it because I love both the shows but I saw two items that were the same on both Pawn Stars and American Pickers. One was a Civil War carbine rifle, and the other was a Confederate belt buckle with a bullet stuck in it.
