572cu engine on Ebay
This weekend I was bidding on a 572cu. merlin motor on Ebay and I was high bidder at $6600 with 1 minute to go. Sure enough someone outbid me at $6700. Well here's the deal, the high bidder couldn't pay so the seller wants to know if I'm still interested. I am, but I kinda want to get it for $6K. I would post the page but I don't want to divulge the seller. The motor is 775hp and is 10 to 1 comp. It is 6 months old and has all the best stuff. The only downside is it has steel heads (345cc) which makes it a heavy mofo. The guy had it in a 67 Impala running high 9's on pump gas. I have to speak with my motor mentor tomorrow to see if it's in my best interest to grab this beast. Poor credit card

Look at the bidders carefully. Has the seller left negative feedback to the top bidder? Sounds like a scam to me. Investigate before you offer any money. I would definately offer the the price you want to pay if it is not a bad price for the motor. You tried but failed due to a dead beat bidder. Now you can play lets make a deal. Since the contract is outside of ebay protect yourself with a postal money order or something else.

Looks like too big of an investment to make without a guarantee. My mentor thinks I should save for a Bill Mitchell or a Shafiroff package that has never seen nitrous and is dyno tuned. I think this summer I will have my 540cu, just got excited over this one:(
