Need help with winshield scratches

Is there a product or method out there to remove what looks like scratches on my windshield? It looks like someone took a scotch pad to the windshield at one point for some weird reason and when the sun is directly in the face it is very hard to see out the windshield.

new winshields are readily available from local glass company and cheap and normally the best longterm solution

I will replace it but for now I just want to try and get rid of the scratches for the time being.

Glass polishing kits come with the necessary components to polish out front windshield scratches and hairline cracks with an electric drill. Worthy candidates for the procedure are any scratches or cracks that are shallow enough to not catch a fingernail.

used this kit from eastwood on my back window that had marks from carrying stuff in the bed. worked well for me, and a lot cheaper than replacing the whole unit.

it comes with a drill bit attachment, but i would recommend using an angle grinder for leverage and stability.

I have used cerium oxide.. found at a local rock shop..
Or...

Then add a little water to make a paste out of a small take a good polishing wheel on a grinder and polish away.. be prepared to spend quite some time on it.
I won't ever do it again, too time comsuming, when finished it will look good but watch out at the first rain.. you will have grooves and valleys where you polished out the scratches, the wipers will pass right over them leaving streaks.. (Unless you polish the entire windshield flat..)

Its way less work and way more cost effective to just spend the $100 on a new windshield..
