Newbe saying Hi!!!!!

I've been lurking on here for a while admiring the trucks on here...I bought a 81" GMC shortbed fleetside from my uncle for $600;) 2yrs ago. It was in rough shape but I wanted something to play with. As soon as I got it home I started on it... so far... this is what I have done

truck came with a 96" Suburban 5.7 w/rollercam

mods I added:
New windshield
all new lights(everything new)
99' Yukon 5.7 vortec heads
GM Z06 Vette beehive springs
Will Hoite's Roller Cam 270dur,495/502 lift 218/224@50(not big enough..taking out)
Edelbrock 750 w/performer RPM (replica)Intake
Headers
Summit race Mufflers/2.5" alum pipe and turndowns(too dam quiet..taking them off) going with flowsound race mufflers and 3" out the back:metal:
Whiteface Gauge kit(just purchased a new set of gauges with actual gauges instead of indicator lights)
Proform Race Distributer

I did the engine mods myself... I'm taking the engine out again to change camshafts and more compression, and while the engine is out I'm taking the front cap and bed off to get it lookin pretty underneath. I will do a 4"-6" drop while everything is apart. I have the normal floorpan, cab corners and bottom quarters to change out... its not bad though. I'll post pics when I get to my home computer.

truck runs and drives great... just dont have enough get up and go.. I'll try some 410gears, a different camshaft and raising the compression to see if i can get it do pep up a bit. If it dont wake up I have another vortec block that i'll do a 383 with if I have too:mm:

Cool! I haven't been over there, but I'm really glad they re-opened it. I was really PO'ed when NASCAR took it and North Wilksboro off the schedule.
I've got a vortec headed 383 in mine and I really like it. I had a TH350 and 3.42 gears, now I've got a 700R4 and am seriously thinking about 3.73 gears, but's mostly a street cruiser.

thanks... my plan is to carry the bike in the back of the truck, go to the track and race both;) I have to at least get it in the 12sec range before I begin to be happy with it.

I have a buddy that went 3.73 with a 700R4.. made a BIG difference in perf and he gets real good gas mileage. He has 20" wheels with 255-35-20's in the rear, thats when I made the decision to try 4.10 with either a 22"or 24" rear
