Rear drum locked tight

So, I am getting ready to move soon and was going to run my 63 down to my buddies place to store it until I get settled. The problem is that the drivers side drum brake is locked tight. I have tried hitting it with some WD, penetrating oil, whacking it with a hammer and even had a tow truck try to "break it loose". I am just about ready to break the drum with a sleadge hammer, but thought I would seek advice before I do it. Any suggestions?

my 64 was the same way when we got it. couldnt get the drum off with any oil, crowbaor or sledgehammer. Wouldnt budge. Had to torch it. See if it has the opening in the back of the backing plate to adjust the shoes, they are stuck to the drum, good luck.

The 2 pins that hold the shoes to the backing plate can be ground off to release the shoes from the drums. They look like a small nail head and are situated ar the 3 and 9 oclock position on the back of the backing plate. Then it should come apart.
New pins are available at Napa.

Thanks Geezer...that is new I was not aware of that. It looked like there was a grease nipple on the back of the backing plate too...is that what that is?

The thing that looks like a grease fitting on the backing plate is for when you bleed your brakes to get the air out ... Don't break that ... The pins in reference should be in the 3 and 9 o'clock position ..almost flush with the backing plate ..they are round and about the size of a triple "A" battery ... Hope all works !! :ito:

And don't worry about loosing all the little springs etc. inside. Napa sells a complete kit to rebuild it all.
