1986 seat upholstery color question...Help please

4 Attachment(s)
I am in the process of ordering a front seat upholstery kit for the 86 crew cab and I am a little unsure what color I have. Havng had a few of these "tan" interiors I have always called it tan. Unfortunatley there is NO tan option from the vendors.

I am told from the pictures I sent the board vendor that it is Palamino vinyl and Sandstone Velour

He is sending color swatches but while we wait for them I thought I would see what you all thought.

Color swatches in the links below.

Looks like saddle tan to me. I have a seat here similar to that that I can match a color sample up to it and sew you a couple of covers but I don't know the correct factory name for that color. If you want me to sew your seat covers up it would probably better if you sent me a sample from your seat that I can match the material up to.

I still would rather you select the colors you want. I sent you the range from light to dark for both vinyl and cloth. Dropped in the mail this morning.

Palomino vinyl looks to dark in the links. The only reason I haven't ordered those exact colors for my truck is because of that. Please post back with what you come up with. I need a seat cover for my 86 and it is the exact same color as your truck inside.

They put that awfull color interior in a million of these square bodies. It would shock me if the upholstery circles didnt have that color correct. Although you never know!

I really like the tan interior color actually. Looks good and goes with most exterior colors well. I do plan on having my dash covered in the tan rather than the brown it was though.

Me too!

I picked up some burb buckets & a console for my CC dually. Since the back seat is actually pretty clean, I was going to try & find some OE material to match. Please let us know how close the colors are.

I have done some research and it looks like the colors that are offered are a VERY close match...not perfect...but close. Palamino vinyl and Sandstone Velour

However...for those doing a crew cab, blazer or suburban....the ones that are being offered are not an exact recration and if you are only doing part of your interior they WILL NOT MATCH the rest of it. The OE seats are made of (2) cloth type materials and (1) vinyl. The seats covers that are being offered are made of (1) cloth and (1) vinyl. There are 2 types of cloth that make up an OE seat and these covers are made only of the material that the "band" across the top back and down the center is made of. The stiching and patters are the same but thats it. See the picture below....the covers are made of the top material only.

If anyone has a link to an exact recreation that is offered please post it up.

So the material w/the 'woven pattern' is not used, just the 'plain' cloth in its place? The colors, piping, & seat stitch pattern are the same?

The lower cloth looks similar to the "Pallex" cluth that was offered in a lot of Pontiacs in teh 80's, too. I had a set of Sub buckets repaired using the original cloth a long time ago, and they wwere able to source the original material. That was probably 10 years ago. It might be worth the trouble to check a local upholstery shop, too.

My buddy has a piece of material that's the correct 'pattern' but incorrect color. He's trying to find something now but it's just a side gig for him so it may/may-not happen.
