Neutral Safety Switch Location

Ok, hopefully I'm not loosing my mind. I can not find my Neutral saftey switch. I have a 82 chevy K10 auto tranny. I looked inside on the steering column down towards the firewall where it bolts to the firewall. There is a cut out or opening in the column where it looks to go but I don't see it anywhere. The engine will not start in gear so it acts like it has one but I can't find it. Is it located somewhere else?

Thanks. I remembered I had bought a used column so I finally opened the boxy and it had the switch I was looking for.

The end of the story is I wanted to get my back up lights working and couldn't find the neutral saftey switch. Everything I have seen or read indicates the back up light switch was intergrated in the neutral saftey switch. The switch I found looks just like a neutral saftey switch but only has two electrical prongs on it. It fits in my column and works great. The only thing I had to do was ziptie it in place becouse my column has clips that require it to be screwed in and this switch didn't have any moldings to fasten it down. Now I have backup lights! Thanks for pointing me towards the ignition switch becouse thats where the backup light harness was wrapped up hiding from me.
