ARP head studs vs. head bolts?
 

which would be better, ARP head studs or the head bolts?

i have a 77 chevy c-10 running around 450hp and i am soon going to be replacing the world product heads with procomp aluminum heads and also installing a nitrous oxide system.

i know there is better clamping force with the studs but is there any preference over the studs then the bolts when running aluminum heads?

My guess is you will get alot of people say STUDS, but I can't imagine good head bolts being insufficient.

ARP Head studs are always the way to go. Look at it this way, a bolt has one set of threads. The studs have two sets of threads. Two tight fits, not just one.

One thing no one really seems to think of is what the stock bolts are actually made of? How many heat cycles have they seen in their use or life? The ARP's are specifically designed to with stand heat cycles and engineered not to stretch. We use these all the time and they are well worth the money. Unfortunately, the ones we have to buy are more than double of the gasser stuff. Sometimes double and triple. :lol: I wouldn't reuse stock bolts, I'd just get the ARP's and not worry.
