Re: converting 2x4 to 4x4?
If I where you I would try to find a 4x4 frame, or an old beat up body 4x4 truck and swap your body over. I am converting a crew cab to 4x4 only because the 4x4 frames are hard to find. Having a parts frame is going to be the easiest way as you will want all suspension brackets mounted to the frame. The spring hangers for the rear are different between a 2x4 and 4x4 and if you use the 2x4 spring hangers for the rear the truck will not be level with the front. You could possible do a lift or something on the back to compensate for that.
Besides the obvious the only thing you will really need to modify is probably the cab floor. I am pretty sure in 74 the tranny hump was bolted in so all you would need to do is unbolt the current tranny hump and bolt in the correct 4x4 hump. Matt |
Re: converting 2x4 to 4x4?
Once again.....Conversions are for vehicles that were never made that way in the first place. Start with an actual 4x4.
This is a case of trying to re-invent the wheel. |
