Is my drive shaft toast?

I pulled the drive shaft from my 79 c30 today to replace the u-joints. Upon doing so, I could slide the carrier bearing off the shaft! I know this bearing is pressed on. Maybe someone turned it down? or a hacked old repair where the bearing ate it out? I dint know. I just know that your not supposed to be able to slide it on and off. I bought a new carrier bearing and it does the same thing.. you can see in the pic, the area on the left is smaller then the little 1/4in space where the spacer ring goes. you can see the line. Sorry for the crappy cell pics, I didn't have my camera at work. Is there anything I can do short of finding a new shaft? Anyone have the front half drive shaft in SC they want to sell? just my luck... oh well. :-(

I think it would be toast unless theres some kind of sleeve kit or undersize bearing available.

thats what I was wondering. If there is a sleeve kit like a harmonic balancer repair sleeve or something., this sucks... I had to get a ride home from work lol.

i had an old dodge like that the carrier bearing was shot and the thing slid on and off . I put it back together and drove the truck with the replaced sliding carrier and it was fine .

I didn't even notice any slop in it while bolted in the truck. Just slid off when I removed it. I think I am going to reinstall the original bearing with new joints until I can find a replacement front shaft. Then I will install the new bearing on the new shaft. I will hit the local junk yards tomorrow and see if I can find anything.
