'88-'98 front bumper on '73-'87
My truck is an '82 with the turns in the bumper. I am thinking of putting a '89-'91 suburban front on it to get the turns out of the bumper and not behind the grille. I have noticed that some places make smooth front bumpers without license plate, or the bolts that hold ours on due to having different tabs in '88-'98 bumpers. Has anyone seen this done on our style trucks or know if the '88-'98 brackets will bolt on to our trucks or if there would just have to be new holes drilled? Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Can't say that I have seen one. But with the right tools and enough time, anything can be done. I think the smooth bumpers look a lot better. I smoothed mine on my '81 but didn't move the lights.

no way is that an 81-87 bumper it looks exactly like the stock 88-98 trucks just not as much v shape to it. I bet they cut it in half, took out all or some of the v shape and then welded it back together.
